Calories

Calories are just a unit of energy. If you eat more than you use you can gain weight, or lose it if you don't eat enough. How much you need depends on your weight, gender and how active you are, but it's around 2,000 a day.

Ingredients
  • Drained boiled chickpeas 250 g
  • Extra virgin olive oil 3 tbsp
  • Tahini 1 tbsp
  • Lemon juice 3 tbsp
  • Ground cumin 1 tbsp
  • Celtic salt 1/2 tsp
  • Sumac 1/2 tsp
Method

1. In a medium size bowl add chickpeas, olive oil, tahini, lemon juice, cumin. 2. Using a kitchen blender blend all the ingredients for a few seconds. You may need 1 or 2 tbsp of cold water to make it smoother. 3. Add salt and pepper for taste. 4. Top with a bit of Sumac which will add a beautiful colour and an extra lemony flavour. 5. Serve with something crunchy like a fresh sourdough, crispbread, crackers, raw veggies cut in pieces, pretzels or crisps. Great for parties!
